Please read the following terms before making a booking:
Reservations
- Deposit of 25% payable on booking to confirm your reservation.
- Full balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. Bookings made less than 8 weeks before arrival are payable in full at time of booking.
- Bookings made by telephone will be held for 7 days, to be confirmed on receipt of deposit. The booking will be cancelled if the deposit is not received within 10 days.
- Bookings made within 14 days of arrival must be paid in full by credit card over the phone.
- Bookings are made in good faith that the Smiddy will be available to the client on the arranged date. If, due to circumstances beyond our control, it is not available, we cannot guarantee the provision of alternative accommodation. In such circumstances, the deposit and balance will be fully reimbursed, and the client will have no further claim against the proprietor.
Your stay
- The Smiddy will be ready for you by 4pm on day of arrival, and must be vacated by 10am on day of departure.
- Please report to Burnside Croft, adjacent to the Smiddy, on arrival.
- If you plan to arrive after 5pm, please notify us in advance.
- Please leave the Smiddy clean and tidy on departure and report any damages. A cleaning surcharge may be levied if it is left in an unclean or inappropriate condition.
- Damages or losses to the property and/or contents during your stay will be charged in full.
- A maximum of 2 people are permitted to stay in the Smiddy; please do not exceed this number.
- We reserve the right to remove persons from the property due to unreasonable behaviour, damage to the property or exceeding the stated occupancy. In this case refund will be at the discretion of the proprietors.
- No pets permitted on premises.
- No smoking on premises.
Insurance
- Clients are advised to take out holiday insurance to:
- minimise the cost and inconvenience of cancelled or curtailed bookings (see Cancellation, below).
- cover loss or damage to personal belongings.
- The proprietor will not be responsible for any loss, damage or personal injury not caused through the fault of the proprietor.
- Vehicles, luggage and contents are left in the Smiddy at their owner’s risk.
Cancellation
- To cancel a reservation, please notify us immediately by telephone and confirm in writing within 5 days.
- We will endeavour to re-let the booking, in which case you will be reimbursed in full.
- If we are unable to re-let, the following costs will be incurred:
- If cancellation is more than 8 weeks before booking commences, the deposit will be forfeited.
- If cancellation is less than 8 weeks before booking commences, the full cost of rental (deposit plus full balance) will be payable.
- In the event of ferry/plane disruptions due to adverse weather or industrial action, the proprietors cannot be held responsible for non-arrival and no refund will be given.
